My left Leg - A walk with Lymphedema

For those of you who know "the dance", that is the ups and downs of living with Lymphedema, this posting will come as no surprise.

Although I've danced this "jig" before, I was still caught by surprise when, after wrapping my legs for several days (so they would be "ready") and performing MLD, the stockings arrived and I went to put them on well, there was no silicone band on the top. It is very important that these garment are perfect, not near perfect or almost perfect everything has to be absolutely perfect for them to do what is necessary to maintain and support the lymphatic system and my legs. Now this might seem minor to those who don't know but this could mean disaster for a person in my condition. What that means is that there is no way for the stocking to stay up. Putting on the compression garments can be a challenge it requires one to be very patient and careful. It is requested that you wear donning gloves (like dish washing gloves) to get them up inch by inch because you do not, I repeat do not want to puncture a hole in them (hundreds of dollars we are at stake). Well, once they are up, they need to stay up...you know? Ok, bottom line I have to send the stockings back, if they were being sent across town or let's say even to the other side of the US that might be ok...They have to be sent to Germany! So I must wait for the return slip, then mail them to Germany, they will make the necessary corrects then mail them back to me...wow! But hey people "this... is life with lymphedema".
