Life with Lymphedema

There is absolutely nothing normal about living with lymphedema. It's a scary, lonely existence. Even if you have people talk to and share with. Now I know that this is a very negative start to what is supposed to be a positive blog, but I'm being truthful as well. I start each day with a massage that stimulates my lymphatic system, then MLD (Manual lymphatic Drainage)in an effort to jump start my lymphatic system, then one hour of pumping my legs. The picture above is what that looks like for me. This is every single day! There are times that my legs hurt too bad to "pump" but even that is a problem. Pumping gives me some degree of relief. It's a never ending cycle. I am very fortunate in that I'm still able to work a full time job. If I over sleep even for 15 minutes, my day is off. Because I must take care of the legs first, after all they get me from here to there (smile). Occasionally I make the idiotic decision to not "pump" a day...for the record "not a good idea". This has been a particularly painful week. And as you But as they say in show biz the show must go on. In all my reading and research on lymphedema, I have not read anything about, rest and relaxation, do's and don'ts etc. Most of my information has been on maintenance. As I am informed I will bring more information to this blog for you
