"My Left Leg"- A Walk with Lymphedema

In this life there are blessing everyday, some blatant, very in your face and you can't miss them while others you see during your quite time and even you are surprised. At this time the reaction is usually wow I almost missed that one.

I had a Dr's visit this past week, nothing major just a follow up visit, so I thought. As I sat she calmly asked how I was feeling? I described my pain level (standard) which by the way was a 8 out of 10. She just gave me the Dr look and nodded her head and spoke we have received your lab results and well... it's showing you have a vitamin D deficiency. I thought ok I'll take a vitamin. Well it was a little more serious than that, my vitamin D level was an 8 when it should have been between 65 and 100, if you know me you know that this was an OH MY GOD moment!

So what does this have to do with lymphedema? Vitamin D is needed to insure healthy bones among other things. Ding ding ding maybe just maybe this is why I am in so much pain. IF it is and I repeat IF it is, then maybe I can look forward to some relief in the very near future, for the first time in soooo long I have a little bit of hope. I have mentioned before I am a very good patient, I usually (smile) follow the Dr's orders to T, so I will be taking the prescription (50,000 units of vitamin D) as I was instructed and looking forward to pain free days ahead!

I'll keep you posted ok?
