I am struggling a bit with not only my left leg but my right one as well. In fact the right leg is causing more pain lately. With that said...I recently returned from a very long road trip - 16 hours each way, something that I have done in the past without a problem. Well this is a new day!
I had it all planned out, I "wrapped" both legs (5 layers each) and set out to do what has been done many times before, thinking that all would be well, how wrong I was. My legs swelled enormously. When I reached my destination I immediately removed the wrappings, my legs need to breathe!!! I pumped both legs and went to sleep. Well, in retrospect I probably should have kept the wrappings on a little longer or at least before going to sleep put on my compression garments...but noooo I wanted to be free. So today, 4 days later I am still trying to get it back together.
I am in pain however I am not sure if it has anything to do with the trip as the weather is rainy and cold which in my case equals a cocktail called Lymphedema and Arthritis.
This was a valuable lesson because I have every intention on continuing to travel. I am a little weary of traveling by air for several reason but the main one is I must travel with my lymphopress machine and that can be a bit much on legs right now. I say right now because I have not given up hope on being totally healed in fact with God there is no - partially healed you know?
Let me mention that I am excited that I survived the trip. The scenery was beautiful and the company was nice also (smile).
I guess I just have to live and learn...after all I am living with lymphedema so live I shall!!!
