"Life"

Life is about taking chances right? Well, maybe, maybe not. As you have heard me say before I am learning to live with lymphedema, part of learning is trying things that don't necessarily work out. Well it's summer time and one thing I enjoy is amusement parks! I have been planning to take a trip to Hershey Park, PA and the time had finally arrived. I approached it with much caution, knowing my abilities had been slightly altered. Ok this is the plan, if I found that I could not handle the walk I would simply rent an electric wheel chair. I felt the price was a bit outrageous but it is what it is...right. Well I did not rent the chair (still dealing with a little pride) also I just felt it was important to push myself. But here's the thing Hershey Park was not the issue, it was the rest of the trip, which involved museums, shopping, in other words a lot of walking. The bottom line is I survived!!! I am a bit sore, my legs are sooo swollen but it was worth it. I spent valuable time with my cousins, both 13 years old(I love them so much) and an adult cousin that also means the world to me. What did I learn from this (you know I'm all about the lessons right?) I learned that although I often feel that I have been pushed aside and that people do not have patience with me moving slow and lacking the abilities that I had a couple of years ago. Most of that is in my head. As I grow to accept this condition I realize that most of the time we stunt our own progress, by having pre-conceived thoughts of what might happen and assuming how others are going to react. So far as I know, God is the only one who knows what the future holds. My job is to live, live life to the fullest and that's what I fully intend on doing.
