I have developed a habit of looking for the lessons in almost everything I go through in life. Well I could write a book of lessons that I have learned in the last few weeks alone (smile). Here are a few that will stay with me awhile.
Unfortunately my mother has been very very ill. As I jumped in to help her, I found that I was neglecting myself by not eating, not sleeping just running my body down. in doing this I, I started feeling "under the weather". My body ached, I lost my voice, I couldn't concentrate, I developed a cold and allergies kicked in...bottom line, I felt like crap. Lesson: You can not help any one else if you do not take care of yourself.
It was Easter, one of my favorite times of the year and I could not sing a note. I wanted so badly to sing but all that came out was a squeal (smile). Not very melodic (it's a good thing that God knows my heart) because there was no joyful sound coming from me that day or that week. Lesson: sometimes it's ok to rest and allow others to ministered to you. In fact there comes a time when we have to be still and listen.
I have never been the kind of person that relied on others, so asking for help was foreign to me Lesson: God places people in your life for a reason, some you will help and others will help you and that's ok!
Exhaustion is serious, Lesson: if you do not get proper rest...your body will take what it needs.
