My left Leg - A walk with Lymphedema
GLORY!!! That is the only word that I know that expresses my feelings today. As Gladys Knight said "I have had my share of life's ups and downs." Things are looking good today! I went to MLD therapy, in pain, down and not very optimistic but I left with a new attitude. NO MORE WRAPS. Yip eeeee. My legs have been wrapped for two months, 24 hours a day. Free at last, Free at last, Thank God almighty I am free at last!!!! Now it wouldn't be me if I did not say, I have some apprehensions. I have been allowed to wear my "old" (4 month old) garments, until the new ones arrive. Which should be be arriving in about two weeks or so (smile). The tricky part of this is, I will have to "maintain" (avoid swelling) until the new garments arrive. I have all the necessary "tools" to do this so now I must put into action what has been learned. This is not a disclaimer but the truth is, it is not totally in my hands. This may or may not work. IF and that's a big if for some reason it does not work, I still have access to my MLD therapist who has been doing this a little longer than I, actually a lot longer. I still have appointments, (I'm down to once a week) and I'm being monitored fairly closely. But hey, My legs are free!!! I want to go out and dance the problem is I couldn't dance before so it's likely that I can't dance now...but I'm going to give it a try tonight (at home...alone) (smile).
